Hostel Introduction
Krishna Hostel is a residence for full time under graduate girl students of Janki Devi Memorial College. It is located in a scenic campus near ridge area of Karol Bagh. The beautifully designed Hostel provides safe and comfortable accommodation to 105 residents. The hostel building was newly constructed in 2018 and inaugurated by the Honourable former President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee on August 01,2018, the founder's Day of College.

Events
29MarchPicnic Day - 29th March 2026
Picnic Day was organised on 29 March 2026, during which hostel residents visited Humayun Tomb and Sunder Nursery. The group travelled together by bus, where students sang songs and enjoyed the journey together. Refreshments were provided at the beginning, after which students explored Humayun Tomb, taking in its beautiful architecture, clicking pictures, and spending time around the monument. Students sat in small groups, chatting, playing light games, and capturing moments through photos and videos. The visit then continued to Sunder Nursery, where residents spent time walking around, appreciating the surroundings, and enjoying lunch brought from the hostel. The group returned together later in the day, bringing the picnic to a pleasant close.
20MarchFire Drill - 20th March 2026
On 20 March 2026, a fire drill and first aid basics awareness event was conducted for the residents of Krishna Hostel. Students gathered infront of the hostel at 4 pm to listen to Mrs. Sushma Gautam, who had years of experience under her belt. Apart from teaching the uses of all available instruments in a first aid kit, she also answered questions for common health problems likely to be faced.
After this, Dr. Kaushal Kishore informed the students of the basics of fire safety, made engaging by stories of personal experience. The students were apprised of the three types of fire extinguishers and how to deal with house fires caused by electricity, or gas leaks. At the end, there was a demonstration of two types of fire extinguishers, and some residents were allowed a first hand experience of operating the device.
It was a very enlightening session and all the students came out with some knowledge to gain that could save their lives in case of an emergency.
4MarchHoli Celebration - 4th March 2026
The Holi celebration in the hostel on 4th March 2026 was a lively and memorable occasion for all the residents. The day began with a special breakfast where festive items like Gujiya, Dahi vada, Thandai, and other sweets were served. Around 11 a.m., everyone gathered in the open space outside the hostel to play Holi. Students celebrated with colours and water, dancing and playing along to the music. We coloured each other in bright shades of yellow, red and green, for a while, it felt like the world had turned into nothing but colour, and time seemed to slow down.
A highlight of the celebration when we applied colours to our hostel warden, Haseena ma’am. It was lovely to see her join in with such enthusiasm, adding to the joy of the occasion. The hostel environment made everyone feel comfortable and secure, which reflected in how freely and joyfully everyone participated. After the festivities, everyone got ready and later enjoyed a special Holi dinner together. For future hostel residents, this is certainly one of the celebrations to look forward to:)
13JanuaryLohri - 13th January 2026
Lohri (13th January, 2026) Lohri was celebrated on 13th of January 2026, bringing hostel residents together for the festival of harvest and togetherness. A traditional bonfire was lit, the centre of Lohri celebrations which symbolises new beginnings. Hostel residents gathered around the fire and followed customary practices associated with the festival.
The celebration continued with residents dancing around the bonfire and enjoying the festival. Popcorn was shared among everyone and tossed into the flames. The celebration ended late at night in high spirits with the residents sitting around the circle, enjoying the music.
23NovemberPicnic Day - 23rd November 2025

The group returned together later in the day, bringing the picnic to a pleasant close.
20OctoberDiwali - 20th October 2025
Diwali was celebrated on 20 October 2025 by the hostel residents in a festive and vivid atmosphere. The hostel space was decorated with colourful rangoli, reflecting the creativity and collective effort of the residents and adding to the charm of the celebration. As the evening progressed, diyas and mini candles were lit across the hostel, illuminating the surroundings and enhancing the spirit of the festival.
Principal (Provost), Prof. Swati Pal, visited during the celebrations and appreciated the decorations and the efforts put in by the residents. The celebration also included light festivities, with residents spending time together, interacting, and enjoying the occasion. The evening provided an opportunity for residents to come together beyond routine and share the festive spirit. The celebration concluded with dinner shared with our Hostel Warden, Haseena ma’am, bringing the Diwali festivities to a warm close.
02OctoberGarba Night - 2nd October 2025
Garba night (2nd October, 2025) On the occasion of Navratri, the Garba Night was celebrated on 2nd October for hostel residents, filling the hostel space with vibrance and festive energy. The venue was beautifully decorated through the efforts of our Hostel Cultural Committee. There was visible excitement among everyone, and the residents looked graceful in their ghagras and traditional attire.
Principal (Provost), Prof. Swati Pal joined the celebration and appreciated the décor along with the enthusiasm and participation of the residents. The night saw everyone coming together to perform Garba in circles, dancing their hearts out under shimmering lights, clicking photographs, and just being part of these shared moments. As one of the first cultural gatherings, the event allowed residents to come together beyond routine, and enjoy themselves fully.
14SeptemberOrientation Day - 14th September 2025
The hostel orientation program was held on 14th September 2025 for the hostel residents and their local guardians. The event brought together hostel staff and members of administration who were felicitated as a gesture of appreciation. Students anchored the programme making the event engaging.
Principal (Provost), Prof. Swati Pal addressed the gathering and spoke about responsibilities, safety and the role of local guardians in supporting hostel residents. This was followed by a speech by the administrative officer Dr. Kaushal Kishore. A small musical performance by some students was also part of the programme. Hostel residents and the local guardians were invited to share their views making the programme more interactive, followed by refreshments. The programme concluded thereafter.
24OctoberDiwali- 24th October 2022
At Krishna Hostel we celebrated Diwali beautiful with all our Hostelmates, Principal Ma’am, Warden Ma’am and the staffs. The whole day we spent do decoration, making rangoli and lighting dias and candles. Everything was so satisfying, we enjoyed a lot with all our hostel friends, ate varieties of sweets. Also that day hostel mess had a tasty food. The variety of food and sweets with a lot of fun and selfies made our day special. We started our day with happiness and ended it with the same. Festivals are important in every religion and celebrating it with our loved one’s makes it more special because we were far from our houses and celebrated it with our new family.
30SeptemberGarba Night- 30th September 2022
Graba night was conducted on 30th September 2022 on the occasion of Navratri. Under the presence of Principal Ma’am, Hostel committee members, assistant warden and all other working staff. This occasion was indeed glorious. Dance and Singing competitions made the crowd loud and happy. There were 5 dance performances and 2 singing performances where the participants showed their immense enthusiasm. Winners of the dance competitions were: 1. Ushoshri 2. Muskan & Anshul 3. Dancing Divas Winners for the singing competitions was: 1. Anupama Garba Night ended with a full fledge ramp walk where all the residents showcased their attire glamorously. Lastly everyone joined the stage for the Graba dance and it ended with a blast. Vote of thanks we’re bestowed to the committee and the organisers.
29SeptemberHandled The Drill- 29th September 2019
On 29th September, 2019, a fire drill was organized by the Krishna hostel. Dr Kaushal Kishore mainly handled the drill. He demonstrated how to use all types of fire extinguishers. He also focused upon the dos and don'ts as a measure towards disaster management. The students were also given a chance to use/operate the fire extinguishers. Everyone was amused and enthralled by the energy that was created. After the drill, everyone was informed/filled with the knowledge of disaster management.
26AugustRaksha Bandhan- 26th August 2018
Intriguing right?... But not for the residents of Krishna Hostel, Janki Devi Memorial College, who embodied this thought in the form of Raksha bandhan Celebration which took place on the morning of 26th August 2018. An all girls’ hostel and Raksha bandhan? Yesss! Absolutely Yess… Girls paired up with each other and tied the auspicious band around each other’s wrist, ate sweets and danced together.
06OctoberFresher’s Party 6th October 2018
In order to welcome the first batch of Krishna Hostel, Janki Devi Memorial College, A Fresher Party was organised on 6th October 2018 in the auditorium of JDMC, The function commenced with the address of our Principal/Provost Dr. Swati Pal and members of the Hostel Committee.In the programme the residents spoke about themselves and their experience in the Krishna Hostel and how lucky they are to sow the seeds of the growth of Krishna Hostel.
01FebruaryHostel Night Milan 1st February 2019
The 1st cultural Night of Krishna Hostel, Janki Devi Memorial College, was held on 1st February 2019 at the college Auditorium in the evening. The function witnessed, the principal/Provost, Dr. Swati Pal, all the Hostel Committee members, all the staff members along with the residents and their guests. Several cultural events took place to entertain the guests of the residents.

Krishna Hostel organised awareness and discussion session and other issue related with Hostellers on 6th October 2018 and 8th February 2019 in hostel garden with Zyego team, an emotional wellness management service for individuals and organizations based in New Delhi by the founder of Zyego, Mr.Arindam Sen.
